GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Parks and Recreation Department wrapped up another exciting youth basketball season last week, as boys and girls competitors from fifth grade through eighth grade battled through elimination rounds before the final trophies were awarded to this season's champions.

The championships showcased the hard work and dedication of young athletes and their coaches throughout what was a competitive and entertaining season. From the opening tip of the first game to the final buzzer of the championship rounds, the kids gave everything they had on the court.

When the dust settled, the Cortez squad claimed the 7/8 Boys Division championship, while Meri earned the Runner-Up honors in that same division. In the 5/6 Boys Division, Hubbard took home the championship trophy with Meri finishing as Runner-Up.

On the girls’ side, Graybill captured the 5/6 Girls Division championship, with Jackson earning the Runner-Up distinction in a competitive bracket.

The championships were the culmination of weeks of games, practices and development for young athletes who are learning the fundamentals of basketball while building friendships and teamwork skills that will serve them well beyond the court.
