GALT, CA (MPG) - The City of Galt is excited to announce that free compost is back! After a successful 2025, when more than 1,200 tons of compost were delivered to residents, the city is ready for another season of sustainable gardening.

Pickup guidelines go as follows: First-come, first-serve basis; Manual loading only (no equipment allowed); Bring gloves, shovels and containers.

Compost pickup is available from 8 a.m. to dusk Thursday through Monday at the parking lot on Caroline Avenue, behind the Littleton Center (410 Civic Drive).

Pickup for compost will not be available on Galt Flea Market days, which are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Compost is made from local yard trimmings and food waste, enriching soil, improving water retention, controlling pests naturally and helping your plants thrive, all while supporting organics recycling in our community.
