Niello Appointed as a State Allocation Board Member

GALT, CA (MPG) – Sen. Roger Niello (R-Fair Oaks) has been appointed as a member of the State Allocation Board by Senate President pro Tempore Monique Limón.

The State Allocation Board was established in 1947 and is responsible for awarding state funding for public Transitional Kindergarten through 12th grade school facilities in California.

In response to his appointment, Niello stated, “I am honored to serve on the State Allocation Board. It is important to make thoughtful budget decisions for school facilities, and I will take my role as a board member with the diligence and attention that our schools deserve.”

Since 1998, California has authorized approximately $54.5 billion for the School Facility Program, most recently including $8.5 billion in new statewide, general obligation bond authority with voter approval of Proposition 2 in November 2024.

The 10-member State Allocation Board is made up of the director of Finance, the director of the Department of General Services, the state superintendent of Public Instruction, three members of the Senate, three members of the Assembly and one gubernatorial appointee.

Elected in 2022, State Sen. Roger Niello represents District 6, which includes the cities of Galt and Herald in Sacramento County and Roseville in Placer County.
