Warriors and Hawks Open League Season at SVC Meet No. 1

“We have a very young team with about half the team being freshmen and sophomore athletes,” said Galt Head Coach Bruce Peterson. “These young athletes are making big improvements in many events. It’s fun to watch their growth as athletes and individuals.”
Galt Men’s Highlights

Sophomore MC Azubuike led the charge for the Warriors, winning the frosh/sophomore 100 meters with a personal best 11.80. Sophomore Amilio Gomez took first in the frosh/sophomore 200 meters at 25.42, while sophomore Mark Grammer won the frosh/sophomore 400 meters with a personal best 55.29. The frosh/sophomore relay teams were dominant, with the 4x100 squad of Grammer, Jayden Sirben, Azubuike and Gomez winning in 46.07, and the 4x400 group claiming first at 3:55.19. The 4x800 team of David Espinoza, Christian Juarez, Isaac Rodriguez and Daniel Crownover added a third relay title at 9:44.36.
In distance, Crownover swept the frosh/sophomore distance events, winning the 1600 meters at 5:13.53 and the 3200 at 11:20.62, with Espinoza finishing second in both events. Varsity standout Alejandro Herrera opened his league season with a second-place finish in the 800 meters at 2:07.42 and third in the 1600 at 4:47.61. Azubuike also cleared 5-10 to win the frosh/sophomore high jump.
Liberty Ranch Men’s Highlights
Liberty Ranch’s senior-led varsity squad made a statement of its own. Michael Lamson won the 300-meter hurdles in 43.74 and placed second in the 400 meters at 53.76. The Hawks’ 4x100 relay team of Lamson, Daniel Sosa, James Rangel and Francisco Ramos claimed first place in 45.04, while the 4x400 squad won convincingly at 3:42.50. Francisco Ramos finished fifth in the varsity 100 meters at 11.77.
In the field, juniors Daniel Swearinger and Cutler Pérez went first and second in the shot put with personal bests of 38-08.50 and 36-07.50 respectively. Sophomore Kyvin Vang cleared 11-00 for fourth place in the pole vault.
Women’s Highlights

Liberty Ranch dominated the women’s sprints, with Kimberly Rodriguez finishing second in the varsity 100 meters at 13.70 and Kamrynn Blevins fourth at 13.87. Blevins placed fourth in the 200 at 28.70 and Rodriguez fifth at 28.96. The Hawks’ 4x100 relay team of Keiser, Rodriguez, Faviola Vasquez and Marwa Yosra took second place at 52.38. In the field, Arianna Barnes placed third in shot put at 27-03 and Kylin Keeler third in discus at 77-04, with Keeler also taking fifth in shot put at 24-02.
For Galt’s women, Morgan Jones delivered a standout performance, placing second in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.88, third in high jump at 4-08,and third in long jump at 16-01. Junior Emily Razo placed second in the 3200 at 13:09.31. Keegan Crownover contributed a fourth-place finish in the discus at 70-10, a personal best.
Both programs now turn their attention to the Delta Invitational at Delta Community College in Stockton on Saturday, April 4, where the Warriors and Hawks will test themselves against regional competition.
