GALT, CA (MPG) - The weekend of May 2 will be filled with Cinco de Mayo celebrations ahead of the holiday, which falls on a Tuesday this year, as many gather to honor Mexican culture with food, such as delicious tacos, and music together.

In Galt, the annual celebration also serves as a key fundraiser for the Galt Sunrise Rotary Club, a local chapter of a global volunteer network that supports community service efforts throughout the year.

Neighbors, friends and family are invited to come celebrate the holiday by attending the club’s Taco de Mayo event from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 2.

With the purchase of a $20 ticket, guests will receive a dinner plate with rice, beans and three tacos. A carryout option will be offered for those who would like to enjoy their food at home. Adult beverages, including margaritas and beer, will also be available for attendees.

The event will feature a door prize and raffle drawings for ticket holders. Live music will be provided by KingSound! Productions.

The Rotary Club hosts fundraisers throughout the year to support its community service efforts, including a fireworks booth in June/July. The Taco de Mayo dinner serves as its primary annual fundraiser.

Proceeds goes toward funding other events such as the club’s community dinner held in December, which brings residents together for a shared holiday meal at no cost for guests. The club also supports local youth through its sponsorship of the Galt Interact Club, helping high school students develop leadership skills and a commitment to volunteer service.
