Warriors and Hawks Deliver Strong Performances at SVC League Meet No. 4

GALT, CA (MPG) - Warrior Stadium played host to the Sierra Valley Conference’s fourth league meet of the 2026 season on Wednesday, April 22nd, and the afternoon belonged to some of the finest individual performers in the conference. Galt High’s Alejandro Herrera swept the distance events, Morgan Jones continued her case as the most versatile athlete in the SVC, and Liberty Ranch’s women dominated the team standings from wire to wire.

On the women’s side, Liberty Ranch was untouchable, rolling to a dominant first-place finish with 149 points: nearly 60 points clear of second-place Galt, which scored 90. Bradshaw Christian took third with 72 points, followed by Amador at 58, Rosemont at 50 and Argonaut at 41.

The men’s meet told a different story, with Amador edging out Bradshaw Christian for the team title, 100 to 95. Argonaut placed third with 75 points, Rosemont fourth at 73, Liberty Ranch fifth at 70 and Galt sixth with 57 points.

Herrera was the headliner of the men’s meet, winning three events on the same afternoon in commanding fashion. The Galt senior took the 800 meters in 2:03.72, a season best, then doubled back to win the 1600 at 4:42.59 before capping his day with a personal best third-place finish in the 3200 at 10:58.89: one of the finest individual performances of the entire league season.

Freshman Gunnar Rohner of Liberty Ranch earned a first-place finish of his own, winning the 110-meter hurdles in a personal best 17.66. The Liberty Ranch men’s 4x800 relay team of Erick Torres, Pedro Velázquez, Kyvin Vang and Devin Vang claimed first place at 12:07.33. Kyvin Vang also won the pole vault at 11-00.

On the women’s side, Morgan Jones of Galt continued her remarkable season with a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles at a personal best 16.42: one of the top marks in the conference this season. Galt’s Danielle Aragon won the 3200 meters in a personal best 13:57.57, and teammate Nora Werdon placed second at 14:30.60. Liberty Ranch’s 4x100 relay team of Myleah Keiser, Kimberly Rodriguez, Kamrynn Blevins and Amya Trujillo claimed first at 52.54. Arianna Barnes of Liberty Ranch won the shot put with a personal best 29-00, and the Hawks’ 4x800 relay team of Gwen Lindberg, Isabella Marquez, Camelia Cazares and Natalie Ochoa took first at 14:45.25.

For the Galt men, Herrera’s sweep of the distance events was the highlight, but the Warriors had other contributors. Dominic Gonzalez placed fifth in both the 800 at 2:12.07 and the 1600 at 5:02.29, both season bests, and fourth in the 3200 at 12:18.47. MC Azubuike delivered a standout performance in the high jump, clearing a personal best 6-04 for second place: an eye-catching mark for a sophomore. Axel Olmos Virgen placed sixth in the shot put at 33-05, and Caleb McEwen placed second in the pole vault at 7-00 while also taking third at 7-00 alongside Kalvin Saelee.

For the Liberty Ranch men beyond Rohner’s hurdles win, the Hawks had a productive afternoon. Rohner doubled back to place second in the 300-meter hurdles at a personal best 44.52, with Daniel Sosa adding third at 44.98 and Jose Lara III fifth at 48.28. The 4x100 relay team of Michael Lamson, Sosa, James Rangel and Francisco Ramos placed third at 44.95. Daniel Swearinger placed second in the shot put at 39-01 and Cutler Pérez fourth at 37-11, with Pérez also placing sixth in discus at a personal best 99-03. Gunnar Rohner placed fifth in the high jump at 5-06, and Pedro Velázquez tied him for fifth with 5-06 as well. Devin Vang placed fifth in the triple jump at 38-02.50.

For the Galt women, Jones was exceptional, winning the 100-meter hurdles at a personal best 16.42 and adding a first-place finish in the long jump at 15-09, a first-place finish in the high jump at a season best 4-10 and a third-place finish in the 200 meters. Her four-event dominance made her the most impactful individual performer in the women’s meet.

Kristine Meixner placed second in the 100 meters at a season best 13.54 and sixth in the 200 at 28.99. Aragon won the 3200 and placed third in the 1600 at 6:22.81, while Olivia Rodriguez took second in the 1600 at 6:13.68 and fourth in the 800 at 2:51.46. Nora Werdon placed second in the 3200 and fourth in the 1600 at 6:35.06. The Galt women’s 4x400 relay team of Paola Corral, Kaylee Meixner, Nella Feilbach and Kristine Meixner placed third at 5:05.84, and the Galt 4x100 team of Shayla China, Morgan Lane, Esmeralda Ayala and Kristine Meixner placed fourth at 57.88. Keegan Crownover placed sixth in discus at 63-08.

The Hawk women were dominant across multiple events. Keiser placed third in the 100 at a personal best 13.64, Rodriguez fourth at 13.69 and Blevins fifth at 13.69. Rodriguez placed third in the 200 at 28.03, a season best, and Marwa Yosra fourth at 28.36. In the 400, Yosra placed second at 1:06.33, Sarah Ayala fourth at 1:07.65, Ruby Gorelick fifth at 1:09.71 and Tenley Messersmith sixth at 1:10.04.


 

The ladies are ready to begin a distance race.


Faviola Vasquez placed second in the 100-meter hurdles at a personal best 17.83 and second in the 300-meter hurdles at a season best 50.61. Navaeh Rhone placed sixth in the 100 hurdles at 20.32 and fifth in the 300 hurdles at 56.41. The Liberty Ranch 4x400 relay team of Yosra, Ayala, Gorelick and Rodriguez placed second at 4:32.17. Arianna Barnes won the shot put at 29-00 and placed third in the discus at 83-00. Kylin Keeler placed fifth in shot put at 24-07 and Giovanna Salas sixth at 21-06. Myleah Keiser placed second in the long jump at 15-02.50 and Kaydince Silva fifth at 13-09, with Silva also placing second in the pole vault at a personal best 8-00.

With the league season winding down, both programs are building toward the postseason where they head to the Masters and then State. Liberty Ranch’s women have firmly established themselves as the team to beat in the SVC, while Galt’s deep roster of individual talent – led by Herrera, Jones and Aragon – continues to make the Warriors a force in every meet they enter.
