GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Teen Center is currently in critical need of volunteers, specifically to fill vacancies on the board of directors.

Most importantly, the center is seeking a new board president to continue its mission. Sarah McFadyen is available to provide comprehensive training to anyone interested in this leadership role.

Without new board members and volunteers, this local nonprofit is at risk of dissolving.

If members of the community are interested in serving as a board member or chaperone, they are encouraged to complete the volunteer form at galtteencenter.org/general-6

The Galt Teen Center was formed in early 2019 by a grassroots group of local teens and adults. Since its opening, the center has served more than 500 teenagers, with daily attendance currently averaging 15 participants.

The Galt Teen Center’s mission is to provide a safe, enjoyable environment where teenagers can engage in constructive, educational and leisure activities to enrich the skills, prospects and spirit of Galt area youth.

The center’s foundational framework is described as free, safe, supportive, service-oriented and inclusive.

In August 2021, Galt Teen Center officially opened its doors at 550 C St. This ideal location in downtown Galt is “by the Water Tower,” one of Galt’s most iconic landmarks. We are grateful to the Galt Historical Society and Dr. Steven S. Sanford, DDS, for working with the nonprofit to arrange a physical location for the teen center!

The center provides teenagers with a variety of resources and engagement opportunities, including snacks, games, crafts and educational classes, all of which are provided entirely free of charge.
