GALT, CA (MPG) - At around 6:20 p.m. April 18, Galt Police officers conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and making an unsafe pass on the right shoulder near a bicycle lane.

During the stop, dispatch advised of a separate report involving a vehicle matching the description that had allegedly brandished a firearm at a family in another car, which included three children.

Through the investigation, officers located a short-barreledrifle with multiple high-capacity magazines inside the vehicle. The firearm did not have a serial number and was loaded at the time it was recovered.

The driver was identified as Bunna Beth of Stockton, 22, and was arrested and booked on multiple felony charges, including several counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The passenger, identified as Jesus Valencia Jr. of Stockton, 22, was also taken into custody. Valencia was arrested for additional weapons violations.

This remains an active investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.

This incident is a reminder of how quickly dangerous situations can develop on our roadways. Thanks to proactive enforcement and quick response, a potentially violent encounter was safely brought to a resolution.
