Warriors, Hawks Compete at SVC Track and Field Championships

EL DORADO HILLS, CA (MPG) - The Sierra Valley Conference Track and Field Championships took center stage Saturday, May 2 at El Dorado High School, and athletes from both Galt High and Liberty Ranch rose to the occasion in a meet that brought together the best competitors in the league. Liberty Ranch’s Michael Lamson delivered the day’s most dominant individual effort, the Hawks women placed fourth in the team standings, and the Galt boys frosh/sophomore squad capped a remarkable season by winning the JV league title outright with an extraordinary 191 points: a championship performance that served as the crowning achievement of one of the most successful developmental seasons in Warriors program history.
Team Scores
On the women’s side, El Dorado claimed the championship with 155.5 points, followed by Union Mine at 116 and Amador at 74. Liberty Ranch finished fourth with 57 points, ahead of Bradshaw Christian at 40, Galt at 31, Rosemont at 25 and Argonaut at 17.5.
The men’s meet was equally competitive at the top, with Union Mine edging Amador for the title, 92 to 83. Bradshaw Christian placed third at 82, El Dorado fourth at 80, Rosemont fifth at 74, Liberty Ranch sixth at 49, Argonaut seventh at 34, and Galt eighth at 24.

Lamson Sweeps Hurdles Again
For the second time this season, Liberty Ranch senior Michael Lamson swept both hurdles events at a major meet, and he did it on the biggest stage of the season. Lamson won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.28 – his fastest time of the season – and followed it up with a first-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles at 42.80.
Freshman Gunnar Rohner was right behind his teammate in both events, placing third in the 110 hurdles at 17.71 and fourth in the 300 hurdles at a personal best 43.90. Senior Jose Lara III added a sixth-place finish in the 300 hurdles at 44.10, and Daniel Sosa placed eighth at 45.51, giving Liberty Ranch four of the top eight spots in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Liberty Ranch men’s 4x400 relay team of Lamson, Sosa, Rohner and Malakai Gomez delivered a second-place finish at 3:40.00, and the 4x100 squad of Lamson, Sosa, Gomez and Francisco Ramos placed fourth at 44.73. Sophomore Kyvin Vang cleared 12-06 to place third in the pole vault: a new personal best to close out his season. Cesar Becerra placed 10th in discus at a personal best 99-05, just inches from the century mark.
Freshman Malakai Gomez was one of the most active competitors for the Hawks men, placing 14th in the 100 meters at a personal best 11.98 and 11th in the 200 at 25.10. Devin Vang placed 10th in the triple jump at 36-07.25 to round out the Hawks men’s scoring.
Liberty Ranch Women Shine in Multiple Events
The Hawk women put together a deep and well-rounded performance that earned them their fourth-place team finish. Junior Kimberly Rodriguez led the way with a personal best third-place finish in the 100 meters at 13.67. Kamrynn Blevins placed sixth in the 100 at 13.86 and fourth in the 200 at 28.54, a personal best. Myleah Keiser placed seventh in the 100 at 13.87. Freshman Kaydince Silva placed ninth in the 100 at a personal best 14.02 and third in the pole vault at a personal best 8-08, adding a long jump personal best of 13-10 for eighth place. Navaeh Rhone placed 10th in the 100 at a personal best 14.04.
Freshman Marwa Yosra had perhaps her best meet of the season, placing third in the 200 at 28.44 and fourth in the 400 at a personal best 1:03.07. Sarah Ayala placed sixth in the 400 at 1:08.35 and Ruby Gorelick eighth at 1:10.50.
The Liberty Ranch relay teams were outstanding. The women’s 4x100 squad of Amya Trujillo, Rodriguez, Blevins and Keiser placed second at 52.46, and the 4x400 team of Gorelick, Ayala, Yosra and Rodriguez took second at 4:22.07: both silver-medal performances on the league’s biggest stage. The 4x800 relay team of Gwen Lindberg, Gianna Williams, Kaydince Silva and Natalie Ochoa placed third at 11:48.80.
Senior Faviola Vasquez delivered a strong championship performance, placing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at a personal best 17.61 and sixth in the 300 hurdles at 51.67. Alexa Williams placed eighth in the 100 hurdles at a personal best 20.13 and ninth in the 300 hurdles at 56.84. Olive Gorelick placed 10th in the 100 hurdles at 21.09 and 12th in the 300 hurdles at 58.19.
In the throws, Arianna Barnes placed fifth in the shot put at 27-11, and Giovanna Salas added an eighth-place personal best finish at 24-04 in shot put and 10th in the discus at 53-00.
Galt Women’s Highlights
The Galt women delivered several standout individual performances at the championship level. Kristine Meixner led the way with a second-place finish in the 100 meters at 13.58: a top-two finish on the SVC’s biggest stage. Morgan Jones continued her remarkable all-around season, placing fifth in the 200 meters at 28.64, second in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.96, fourth in the high jump at 4-10 and fourth in the long jump at 15-06: four top-five finishes in a single championship meet. Meixner also placed 10th in the 200 at 29.91, and Kaylee Meixner placed 10th in the 400 at 1:12.
In the distance events, Galt had three athletes finish in the top nine of the 1600 meters. Olivia Rodriguez placed sixth at 6:13, Danielle Aragon eighth and Nora Werdon ninth: a strong showing that reflected the depth the Warriors have built in the distance ranks throughout the season.
The Galt women’s 4x100 relay team of Valeria Lopez, Esmeralda Ayala, Morgan Lane and Kristine Meixner placed fifth at 56.90.
In the field, Ayala placed 11th in the shot put at a personal best 22-02, while Keegan Crownover delivered a strong fifth-place finish in the discus at 70-07. Xoshi Zepeda placed 17th in the shot put at 17-03.50 and Isabella LaBrada placed 21st in shot put at 15-02.25 and 13th in discus at a personal best 49-06.

These Hawk athletes are ready to practice for another week as they prepare for sections.
Looking Ahead
With the league championships in the books, athletes across both programs now turn their attention to the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships, where qualifiers will look to extend their seasons and represent the Galt community on a regional stage. For Lamson, who swept the hurdles at the league championship meet, the postseason cannot come soon enough. And for the Galt frosh/sophomore boys – league champions with 191 points – the future of Warriors track and field arrived right on schedule.
The Warriors have four postseason qualifiers for the upcoming CIF Sac‑Joaquin Section Division V Championships:
