An F3 Dry Creek group starts the day’s second workout.

GALT, CA (MPG) - F3 Dry Creek hosted one of its weekly male-community workouts on Saturday June 13 at Galt Community Park. The group put on two workouts in the morning, the first starting at 5:15 a.m. while the second one started at 6:30 a.m.

The first workout was mainly a ruck that was the distance of 3 miles, which nearly takes up 50 minutes. A ruck is someone who is walking or hiking with a weighted backpack to build both strength and endurance. And once they finished the ruck, some stayed to also participate in the second workout as well.

It was described as a “beatdown” workout by workout/day leader Thomas Gomes. It was going to be more strength training with a little jogging.

Workout and Day Leader Thomas Gomes: “It is about getting the male community together around fitness, and then help each other out any way we can.”

The participants worked in rotations of certain workouts with a cinder block, then would jog laps around the area, constantly working at everyone’s individual pace for the entirety of the workout.

Leaders consistently encouraged everyone to not give up and to keep pushing. But it is more than just a workout group.

“It is about getting the male community together around fitness, and then help each other out any way we can,” mentioned Gomes.

The mission for F3 is to revitalize the leadership of the male community by planting, growing and serving workouts to male-only groups. They do that by following their “3 F’s,” which are Fitness, Fellowship and Faith.

Everyone poses for an after-workout photo.

Each week they work out in groups that have all levels of fitness and are incorporated with new exercises throughout the week.

Whether it is strength training, obstacle/mud runs or even distant relays, the changes up to allow people to work out together and grow a bond between everyone.

“We all commit to coming and then showing up is proving to yourself that you can complete it, while pushing yourself to do the workout and supporting each other to grow ourselves in fitness and leadership,” Gomes mentioned.

Everyone gathers for a group hug after their workout.

F3 also offers workouts on Thursday and Friday at 5:15 a.m. during the week as well as the two on Saturdays. And they are not just located in Galt; they have regional groups in Elk Grove and Sacramento.

Going forward for F3, there are going to be more fellowship and faith events, to grow more of a relationship between each other while also helping the community.
