GALT, CA (MPG) - On June 2, Galt City Council recognized a team effort that highlights the very best of public service.

Corporal Spinelli, Officer Robison and Officer A. Steele, alongside the on-duty crew from Cosumnes Fire Department Engine 45 and Medic 45, were honored for their lifesaving actions during a medical emergency involving a resident who suffered a major heart attack at home.

Galt Police officers were first to arrive and immediately began CPR, providing continuous chest compressions until fire personnel arrived on scene. Working side-by-side, Galt Police Department and Cosumnes Fire personnel continued lifesaving efforts for 27 minutes before the patient was transported to a local hospital.

What made the recognition especially meaningful was hearing directly from the patient and their family. During the meeting, they shared their gratitude for the quick response, professionalism, compassion and teamwork shown by both departments during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.

We are incredibly proud of the partnership between Galt Police Department and Cosumnes Fire Department. Every day, our personnel train and work together to serve this community, and last night was a powerful reminder of why that partnership matters.

Most importantly, we are thankful that the patient has made a remarkable recovery and that our officers had the opportunity to meet them again under much happier circumstances. Moments like these remind us that behind every call for service is a person, a family and a community worth serving.
