Officer Earns MADD Honor for 43 DUI Arrests

GALT, CA (MPG) - Galt Police Officer Hughes has been recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for his commitment to keeping impaired drivers off local roadways.
The officer recently received a MADD Award after making 43 DUI arrests in 2025, a distinction that honors law enforcement officers who demonstrate exceptional dedication to impaired driving enforcement.
According to the Galt Police Department, each arrest represented an opportunity to prevent a potentially tragic incident caused by impaired driving.
The annual awards, presented by Mothers Against Drunk Driving, recognize officers who go above and beyond in efforts to reduce impaired driving and improve roadway safety.
Police officials praised Officer Hughes for his dedication to protecting the community and helping prevent crashes, injuries and fatalities associated with driving under the influence.
The department said Hughes’ commitment to proactive DUI enforcement has played an important role in making Galt's roads safer for residents and visitors alike.
