ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Opening day for the Fog Willow Farms pumpkin patch was Sept. 26, and it will stay open through Oct. 31. Fog Willow Farms is in Wilton, and it is a 9-acre, family-owned farm that hosts a seasonal pumpkin patch and petting zoo. It also serves as an educational farm for school field trips.

The farm has been open for 24 years, creating memories for multiple generations and providing much more than just a pumpkin patch.

Hayrides, adventure courses, farm animals and petting zoos are just some of the memorable activities that are provided.

It even has a section called the “The Big Dig,” where children can learn to pan for gold and crystals.

Fog Willow Farms also has more carnival-like activities in “The Back Forty,” which include the Silo Express Tube Slide, Caterpillar Climber, Barn Yard Bouncer and COOP DeVille.

The Silo Express Tube Slide is a two-lane, 150-foot slide that provides a quick rush of adrenaline for anyone of any age. The Caterpillar Climber is a 40-foot peg wall that allows anyone to test their rock-climbing abilities.

The Barn Yard Bouncer brings more fast-paced fun like the slide, as it is a 35-foot-by-60-foot jumbo jumper, encouraging kids to jump as high as they can to touch the sky.

Families enjoy a tractor ride.

Lastly, the COOP DeVille is a chicken coop made from an old flatbed truck that even rolls.

Besides being able to come with the family on a free day, schools and youth groups can make field trips for both the pumpkin patch and science education.

The pumpkin patch provides an hour and a half of hands-on educational activities focused on farm animals, while the field trip for science teaches how science pertains to farm animals.

The fun does not stop after people leave. Fog Willow Farms provides a “Lil’ Pickers Punkin’ Club.” For a one-time fee, the membership provides children with free admission.

Not only that, but they host a movie night at the end of pumpkin season where activities happen before the movie begins. Children can participate in sack races, hayrides and pumpkin smashing, providing fun and memories as fall closes and winter arrives.
