Galt JV Drops League Game to Bradshaw Christian, 22-6

GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Warriors junior varsity football team fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 22-6 league loss to Bradshaw Christian. Galt is now 1-1 in league play.

Bradshaw Christian scored 15 points in the first quarter. After that, Galt's defense held the Pride scoreless through the second and third quarters to keep the game within reach.

The Warriors finally scored in the fourth quarter on a touchdown run by freshman Austyn Gubac. Bradshaw Christian answered with a touchdown of its own to put the game away.

Galt ran the ball well, with 138 rushing yards on 30 carries, an average of 4.6 yards per carry. Freshman Grayson Tassell led the way with 46 yards on nine carries. He also caught two passes for 22 yards, giving him a team-high 68 total yards. Freshman Bryson Garbarino had the biggest play of the night with a 40-yard run. Gubac ran for 27 yards and the touchdown on nine carries, and sophomore Michael Silva had 24 yards on eight carries.

Sophomore quarterback Chance George completed 4 of 10 passes for 65 yards. Gubac caught a 22-yard pass, and sophomore tight end Kody McCulloch had a 20-yard catch.

Freshman Hank Van Steyn led the defense with seven tackles, five of them solo. Gubac and freshman Andrew Lee had five tackles each, and Gubac also intercepted a pass. Sophomore Brody Patterson had three tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. Sophomore Andy Sanchez added a sack, and sophomores Charles Patterson and Jonathan Jimenez each had a tackle for loss. In all, Galt had five tackles for loss and two sacks.
