GALT, CA (MPG) - The City of Galt Recreation Division is encouraging families to register young athletes for the upcoming youth basketball season and inviting community members to volunteer as coaches.

Registration for the city’s Youth Basketball program closes Oct. 19. The program is open to students in first through eighth grades and focuses on developing basketball skills, building confidence and teaching teamwork.

Practices are anticipated to begin the week of Nov. 2, with games scheduled from Dec. 12 through Feb. 27.

Registration fees vary by grade level. The first-grade clinic costs $100, while second- and third-grade registration is $110. Fees are $120 for fourth-graders and $130 for players in fifth and sixth grades and seventh and eighth grades.

Families who register after the Oct. 19 deadline will be charged a $25 late fee per player.

The Recreation Division also is seeking volunteer coaches to support young athletes throughout the season. Coaches will help players develop their abilities, gain confidence and learn the importance of teamwork in a positive environment.

Community members interested in coaching are encouraged to contact the Recreation Division at 209-366-7177.
