GALT, CA (MPG) - Historic Fourth Street is getting more attention.

The vintage-style Lodi Wine Trolley stopped for the first time there in Old Town Galt Oct. 17. Eleven people who came on the trolley visited Barsetti Vineyards tasting room at 400 Fourth St., Suite 150.

“They all seemed to have a very good time,” said Barsetti Vineyards’ owner Janis Barsetti Gray.

The group stayed for about 75 minutes tasting wines and enjoying a box lunch provided by the Lodi Wine Trolley. It left Fourth Street by way of C Street, capturing the attention of at least one resident on the way.

Barsetti Gray said the owners of the trolley are now partnering with Barsetti Vineyards to make the tasting room one of the 16 trolley stops.

“They thought we were a good fit,” Barsetti Gray said. “Whatever helps me, helps Galt.”

The Barsetti family has been in Galt since 1912. Janis’ father and grandparents in 1941 bought the land where the vineyard is now. The vineyard was planted in 1995 and Barsetti Vineyards established a wine label in 2001.

The 120 acres of the vineyard “is planted in zinfandel, pinot noir and chardonnay,” according to the business’ website.

Each tour aboard the wine trolley stops at three wineries on Saturday in addition to its beginning and ending point, which is Scotto’s Wine & Cider, 14 South School St., Lodi. On Sunday, the trolley stops at two wineries in addition to Scotto’s.

The wineries on each tour vary, depending on availability and the wineries next on the rotation, said Toni Singh, business manager for the Lodi Wine Trolley.

The driver and visitors enjoyed making the stop at Barsetti Vineyards, Singh said.

The eleven visitors were new customers at the tasting room, Barsetti Gray said. It’s important that people come into Old Town, she said.

“It’s all about getting people into this part of town, too,” Barsetti Gray told The Galt Herald. “There’s a lot of history here.”
