GALT, CA (MPG) – Three votes separate those who want to elect the city treasurer and city clerk here and those who want the City Council to make appointments to the roles, according to unofficial election results Nov. 3 from Sacramento County.

More than 4,000 voters cast ballots for or against Measure L, which asks voters to choose which they prefer.

As of 1:36 a.m. Nov. 3, 2,075 were in favor of electing the city clerk and city treasurer and 2,072 were in favor of having the City Council appoint people to the roles.

But the results are preliminary. Less than half of the ballots cast countywide in Sacramento County have been tallied, said Ken Casparis, a spokesperson for the county.

Ballots had to be postmarked by Election Day, but ballots can be received by the elections office up to seven days following the election.

County officials are expected to release an estimate Nov. 4 of how many ballots are left to count. The next official update to the election results will be Nov. 6.
